Plant enzymes and exotic fruit extracts to support digestion.
Protein from food is the main source of building materials for the body. With the help of proteolytic* enzymes, large protein molecules are broken down, in the digestive tract, into smaller fragments - peptides and amino acids, which the body is able to digest. Problems with digesting protein can occur: with increased stress levels, post illness, sedentary lifestyle, overeating protein, as well as in athletes, the elderly and those who follow high-protein diets. In these situations, the body's own enzyme system may need help. Taking plant enzymes is one solution.
Bromelain
A plant proteolytic enzyme helps digestion and supports protein absorption. It is extracted from non-edible plant parts, such as pineapple core and stems, which have the highest concentration of bromelain.
Papaya fruit extract
The juicy papaya pulp contains some vitamins, minerals and plant enzymes, of which papain is the most valuable. Like bromelain, papain is a proteolytic enzyme that may improve and support digestion and assimilation of protein foods.
Turmeric Extract
Turmeric is a spice known in the East that supports a healthy appetite and may stimulate gastric acid to support digestive health.
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin)
Helps maintain GI tract mucous membrane health.
* Proteolytic (from Latin proteina - protein and Greek lytikós - cleavage) refers to a group of enzymes that specialize in breaking down proteins into smaller fragments - peptides and amino acids. Other names for proteolytic enzymes are proteases or proteinases.
